Q: Can you help me to choose the right angel?

Q: The psalms in the book don’t match the psalm list I found on the internet. Why?
A: The internet is not always the most reliable source when it comes to the occult. There are many traditions, and what you’ve found may indeed be accurate for one tradition or another. The verses we use appear in other texts and traditions and are correct and as intended. Each verse contains seven words, and contains the first three letters of the angel’s name, spelled out in Hebrew, buried within the verse. Given that an angel name consists of these letters with a word-ending that equates to god, the entire angel name is encoded within the verse, because each verse also contains the name of God. We find these to be the most effective verses, but you are free to use your own if you prefer.
Q: Why are your angelic seals different to some I saw in another book?
A: There are many variations of these seals, taken from many sources. In some cases, the smaller changes are due to copyist errors and interpretations, over time. In other cases, there are major differences. The seal we use for Eladiah, for example, is used by some groups to connect with Laviah. How do we know what we are doing is right? Gordon Winterfield (and others) have viewed many of the originals in libraries as far apart as Paris and Chicago, and performed extensive academic research to determine the correct order. Some of this research occurred early on, and some much more recently, but in the meantime we all found what worked. Also, the private collection of materials that came into our posession, (which contains the most accurate and powerful magick we know of), set out the seals as they are used in The 72 Angels of Magick. Finally, it was our connection to the angels, and their blessing of our choices that made us settle on the order that is retained in the book. Other sigils may work, but we have every confidence that the ones we use will work as described for this particular version of the magick.
Q: I can read Hebrew and the names don’t match the pronunciations in a couple of cases. Why?
A: If these were mistakes they would be very easy to rectify, but these pronunciations are intentional. Everything in this book is correct and as intended. Some reviewers claim that the letters used in the sigils are incorrect (because they don’t match the pronunciation), but this is quite deliberate and everything works when you actually put the magick into practice. There’s a full explanation on this page.
Q: Somebody online said this book calls on Azrael, the Angel of Death. They said the book can bring death as a payment. Is this true?
A: It’s complete fiction, designed to scare you. If you see how many people the book has actually helped, and if you feel the presence of angels, you know this is the case. Read the book and you will see that the ritual calls on Arzel, who is an aspect of the archangel Raziel – there is nothing to do with Azrael. The angels do not punish you, and only the most inexperienced and frightened person would claim this to be the case. Mostly, magick books fall into the hands of those who understand the power and can use it well. Occasionally, these books fall into the hands of the terrified, and they do some wretched online research, get confused and become afraid and spread disinformation, and then blame all their woes on magick. If you read the book and practice the magick, you’ll know that none of this scaremongering is remotely true.
Q: I read a PDF that said contacting these angels is dangerous, and that I should purify myself and fast before attempting contact. Is this true?
A: This sort of disinformation is used to frighten people away from the secrets of the inner circles. Angels help the weak, filthy and the poor, so you don’t need to fast, bathe, or grovel to be heard by an angel.
Q: Some people say the angelic sigils are used for contacting demons, not angels. Is this true?
A: No, it is not true. The sigils can be used as an aid to contacting demons, because the angels are called first when contacting demons, but that has nothing to do with this book. The sigils themselves are the sigils of the angels, and anything else you hear is a misunderstanding or disinformation. You cannot accidentally summon a demon by using these sigils. Furthermore, it is worth noting there was an active disinformation campaign by a particular group, carried out some years ago, which was perhaps used as an attempt to keep the materials secret by making them appear untrustworthy. The echoes of that campaign continue to reverberate. It is clear from the results obtained by people who use this magick that the sigils are safe and angelic.
Q: I read on the internet that the person who shared these sigils later denounced them as demonic. Is it true?
A: If you believe every internet scare-story then you’ll soon be convinced that all magick is dangerous and evil. As thousands of our readers have proved, that’s not the case. It’s true that one person from one magickal order did denounce the sigils, but that sort of thing happens all the time. And he was not the person who discovered, shared, or revealed these sigils; he merely drew up a minor document for that magick order. He was just one more person who had access to one version of the sigils. Some people even think the story was spread around deliberately, in an attempt to hide the power of the sigils.
Q: Do I really have to do the rituals for 11 consecutive days? Do I have to start on a Thursday?
A: Ideally, yes. If you absolutely can’t, due to other commitments, then miss a day and then keep going until you have worked at least 11 days, ideally finishing on a Sunday. If you can’t start on a Thursday, start on a Monday. If you can’t finish on a Sunday, finish on a Thursday. If you can’t do any of these, just try to work the ritual as often as possible (but no more than once a day) until you get results, but be aware that 11 consecutive days, starting on a Thursday, is the best way to get results.
Q: Why 11 days and why a Thursday? Words of Power works so quickly, why do I need to do 11 days and start on a Thursday?
A: It gives you time to settle into the magick and – sometimes – feel your needs change during the course of the ritual. Also, magick works through both directions of time, and the effects are cumulative. When making direct contact, this is the approach that has worked the best – and although there are many theoretical reasons, this is based largely on experience. Also, angelic work is usually aimed at making large changes, that affect you as well as the world around you, so a longer length of time is better. Also, as this is direct contact with angels, spending 11 days gives you more chance of sensing the angel, making contact or getting feedback on your result. Some people feel nothing, and that is fine, while others feel something straight away. but overall, doing 11 days gives you more time to form a relationship with the angel you are contacting.
Q: Hayiel and Hariel are both said to improve magickal power, so which should I use?
A: Hayiel is noted to provide greater control or precision. Hariel is more about increased energy. If you need more energy, then Hariel. More control, Hayiel. You may not need either. The listed powers are only guides to get things moving, but to get a sense of how the angels differ, it’s worth considering their other listed powers. That gives you a feel for their practical potential.
Q: Is there any disadvantage to calling on several angels at once if I have several minor requests? I don’t want to do the full ritual five times.
A: Angels will respond to minor requests – but the approach to angelic contact in the angel books is aimed at more major requests. If somebody speaks the ritual and then calls on five major angels to change five major areas of their life in a major way, it shows a lack of focus and dedication. But if the changes you seek are quite minor, you can roll it into one ritual and call on several angels at once.
Q: If I call on several angels at once, do I have to complete the full ritual every time, or can I just do the opening, and then call on each angel one after the other?
A: It is ideal to do the complete ritual from beginning to end, and then do it again for the next angle, and so on. If calling on three angels – even if they are all working on the same task – call one, wait a few hours, call the next and so on. If you are pressed for time you can condense the process by calling to the first angel, but instead os saying, “It is done,” you go back to the part of the just after the use of imagined colored light, and make another call, this time with a different angel and new request, until you can say, “It is done”. Some people find success with this approach, but the recommended approach is to separate the rituals out, so that each has your full focus and energy.
Q: I get a sense that I need to continue the ritual for more than 11 days. Is that OK?
A: Yes. There is no need to perform the ritual for more than 11 days unless you sense a strong urge, but if you do feel the urge to maintain contact there is no reason why you shouldn’t. Aim to conclude on a Sunday if possible, unless the angel contacts you directly and tells you otherwise.
Q: Should I sit, kneel, or stand?
A: Remember that you’re not praying, so if kneeling makes it feel like praying that might be the wrong mindset. Otherwise, there’s no problem with kneeling, standing or sitting.
Q: Do the angels always work for our highest good?
A: No, they work according to what you ask for. Angels can be commanded to wreak havoc, and they will do so. That’s what makes magick different to praying – you are choosing the path for yourself, and then using the spirit forces to manifest your will.
Q: Do I have to look at the talisman and sigils while speaking the various names and calls?
A: In some places, you are told to look at specific parts of the images, but then there may be an instruction such as, “The talisman can stay within sight, but you do not need to keep looking at it now.” It’s safe to assume that if there’s no direct instruction to look at a talisman or sigil, you don’t have to.
Q: When I charge the Shem Talisman, or an angelic sigil, is it charged forever or do I need to do this each time?
A: Once is enough. Some people feel the need to reconnect with a sigil, after some months or years, but this is a personal matter. You shouldn’t feel obliged to do it more than once.
Q: Will you ever publish a version of the book that shows the colored sigils?
A: You can already do this with the ebook on the right device, but a paperback would be very, very expensive and would probably seem like a cash-in, so at this time, there is no plan to do that. Also, it is said in the book, ‘You can imagine it as red, and that is good enough.’
Q: What happened to Magickal Angels and The Greater Magickal Angels?
A: It made sense to offer both books together, for a lower price. The 72 Angels of Magick replaces those books, but contains the same material.

Hello Adam! I am wondering if you will, could you offer guidance with some aspects of love and relationship-focused rituals in 72 angels. I have tried for a long time with love and been hurt many times, not to have a pity party but when I say hurt- it’s been bad. Words of Power brought someone into my life indirectly- I was “given a chance” to experience a relationship where the deepest desire of my heart which I never even knew, manifested. It emerged during the ritual as something said in my head over and over and then, the next day, a friend courted me unexpectedly… took a chance with me so to speak, and he said these words verbatim at an intimate moment. I took it as a sign and allowed him into my heart. It was then that I experimented with M Seduction- it really brought both of us a level of love making that I’ve never experienced. A gift to us both. It developed quickly into a relationship- amazing. Just perfect connection… but burned out too soon. The underlying factor that from the get go was known as a possible challenge, me not being of the same culture and religion, the thing that made it impossible for him to see a future. That I would be rejected by his family- he just couldn’t see it. We took time “apart” during which I suffered a lot, probably said a few things I shouldn’t, and he suffered too as his love was real.. during this time I also did the love ritual from that book. It was genuine though my pain likely also was conveyed and so I’m not sure what happened but he did chose to end it fully. I feel rejected, I have no clue his feelings anymore, feels like a weird dream. I don’t know where to go from here. I feel I may have put the wrong energy in and this is my fault. Perhaps it wasn’t forever but for sure he is a soulmate. I think the love was true. I know it was for me, in a way I never knew. In fact it was the day after the first ritual that he confessed it. But the pain of the whole thing did for sure harden me and that is an energetic block. I’ve softened now and think I am ready to endeavor to repair it. I just am unsure where to start. I know Yezelel would be helpful and I do not know if it’s enough to just work with this angel. It’s specifically said that this angel does not address the reasons for the separation and that they still need to be worked on. So how do I address that issue, of religion? I am willing (and actually very want to) to convert and he knows. I’ve thought of others (sorry if I don’t know the names) – Poiel to manifest a desire that seems impossible, because certainly the cultural decision he made, seems like something I am powerless to change, a huge obstacle, and also because I’ve been close to having love and need to break through the barrier, as is listed with those powers. Another angel who helps “Find a peaceful path” for not ruining ones reputation- here could be “interpreted” a bit to help find a path that could help his family accept me. But perhaps that would come later? Then there are angels who help to generate love when the person is afraid to live/commit. Lastly angels specific to love that is not seduction but for true relationship. I don’t know if you have suggestions but I would appreciate advice as I try to plan for the coming Thursday. I’m not sure if it’s okay to do one thing at a time- I don’t want to be “heady” about this and something that helped was to begin writing my ritual and feeling the transmuting. I just want to keep it to only a few angels, preferably one or two, and I am not sure if all angles have to be addressed or if us reuniting would be enough to start the process. Again the main issue is that of religious identity, that it’s something that he decided he needs in a partner. That his family would reject me. An age old tale,I know. Mind you.. I was never even given a chance to be brought in. I truly miss the friendship, the feeling of being so cared for, and the other thought I had would be to ask Poiel to bring this desire to my heart, say that I wish for my ex or someone who made me feel just as deeply cared for. But the heart wants what it wants .. you know? Is there an angel you might direct me to or a working which I haven’t thought of? Or is it possible that the love ritual needs time? It had several weeks. I think it was the wrong type of love maybe to try to enhance? The wrong energy.. I don’t know. He just is extra precious to me because I know he was brought to me, truly through the angels. I have “angels of love”.. I know I could do the soulmate workings but I feel like it’s worth it to give this one shot. Any advice would be appreciated. I know many people have the same longings and I think this is not an unusual situation in terms of cultural differences. I see it often. Thanks and blessings.
Hello there. Tough problem. I’ve seen many friends go through this. Well, only three, but that feels like ‘many’ because it’s not an easy situation. When it comes to choosing an angel, have you read this: https://galleryofmagick.com/2015/08/11/how-to-find-an-angel/ It’s one of those things where it looks like we’re being lazy and unhelpful, but really, it’s more helpful to get you to make your own decisions. No matter how clearly you explain, I can’t guess what’s really going on under the surface; what desires, hopes and so on are all bubbling away and pulling you in different directions. What I can say is that although the heart wants what the heart wants, the heart can be a fickle beast, and that’s why the ritual in the soulmate book is useful – it takes the relationship to its limit, quickly. You get to see whether there is hope, and a reason to go on, or if it’s going to fizzle out. If I was to recommend anything it would be that, and any angels that can offer you support, clarity and that sort of thing, rather than trying to sway the situation itself until you’re absolutely certain of what you want.
Thanks Adam. Sorry for the emotional post. I appreciate the article and the technique offered. More succinctly, i should have asked the following: do individual problems need to be addressed in logical sequence or are results cumulative? Regarding religion, or such a challenge, are there any angels that come to mind; I understand the need to chose an angel, just looking for an experienced perspective about which might work, for this type of obstacle, as sometimes the examples Damon wrote about in were ways of looking at things I wouldn’t expect. Lastly is it frowned upon to employ other systems of magic when working with kabbalistic /angelic magic (does it convey doubt.. or can it work in conjunction with angelic work). thank you.
It doesn’t have to be in sequence, but sometimes that helps. Say you want to change somebody’s mind. First you might want to weaken then and make them tired. Or, depending on the situation, you might want to first make them happy and strong, so that their decision is more positive. It is entirely dependent on each situation, and that’s why I can’t offer more detail. You need to take the time to become deeply familiar with all the angelic powers. The act of reading about them is the beginning of magick, as you will sense connections and ideas that may not have occurred to you before. That is so much more valuable than me offering a suggestion. Takes more times, but is better. You can happily work other systems too. Other occultists may disagree with us on this, but we find it works fine. Obviously, it’s not great if the intentions clash, or if you’re calling for powerful and disruptive forces at the same time as very gentle forces – so it takes some thought. Generally, it can all work together.
I am being tormented by an enemy who also has knowledge of Angel contact ( not sure where this person’s knowledge is derived from) Every time I task an Angel to protect or otherwise “advance” my enemy is able to redirect or disperse the Angel. Any ideas on how to deal with this? Any specific commands?
In situations like this, the first question is always, ‘Are you sure the other person has this knowledge?’ I know it happens, for sure it happens – an enemy outwits you. But I’ve also seen many people assume their enemy is outwitting them when in fact the enemy is at home, having a nice cup of tea and has forgotten all about you, and the curse is effectively your own fear. I say all this to open the subject, not to say that this is happening, but to let you consider it, and make sure your evidence is sound. Because it’s easy to get caught up in the belief in the power of an enemy, and that just gives them power whether they want it or not. Sometimes, your magick is falling flat for another reason (all the reasons explored in the many posts on this site), and it’s not through anybody else’s attack.
OK, let’s forget all that, and assume you’re completely right and this person has occult power – you know the situation better than me, so we’ll assume that’s the case. Now it comes down to how you want to tackle it. Some people would reach for Magickal Attack and bind the person, or even curse – it may be warranted, and if the person is once silenced and weakened in this way, the rest of your work will have room to move. Otherwise, ensure everything from Magickal Protection is in place, but you can also try to alternative method we’ve talked about here – in some of the books there are ways to make people feel warmer, to open up to you, to make enemies feel at peace. If a battle isn’t working out for you, aim to disarm the enemy with feelings of peace. It’s a lot to think about, but if this is a persistent problem then a creative approach might be what you need to get things shifting the way you want.
Hi Adam, can I use Vevaliah to destroy the same person through 2 different rituals, let’s say done weeks apart? I am thinking to request Vevaliah to curse for ill health in one ritual and in the next ritual, requesting Vevaliah to curse the same person but for bad luck. I hope this is not lusting for results.
Vevaliah can certainly be called on to enact wrath. The distinction you’re asking about is a minor one in real terms, which brings me to a touchy subject – when I took over this blog from Damon it was agreed with the entire group that the purpose of answering questions is not to give tuition, but nor is it merely to offer vague inspiration. These pages exist to refine what’s out there already, and to encourage magickal experience. What we can’t do, and what I really can’t do, is guide every step. You have you to do the magick, boldly and often, and you have to find your own path. All you need is in the books and on this site – the rest is probably, almost certainly, superfluous. Not always, but usually. The way Damon put this, bluntly, is that if somebody asks more than three questions a week, they’re avoiding the magick. I think you’re averaging at least one question a day. It may be out of fear, curiosity, something else – but when there are that many questions, my job is to stop answering them and to guide you to trust yourself and get into the magick. The sooner you work with it, and learn what works for you, and how magick feels for you, and where your focus is going to be, the sooner you will get the results you want. If I answer more questions, I’m actually delaying your magickal development, which can only come through experience. I understand that there is often a hunger to know more and more, but there comes a times when you should trust yourself and simply act. This made sound rude, cruel, uncaring or lazy, but trust me when it’s actually about handing over the reigns, which is such a vital step.
