Hello Damon and Zanna, thanks for your continued support! I have a question about 72 Sigils. My problem is I have a terrible procrastination problem that currently manifests itself as internet addiction. I feel very anxious when there is something I have to do and I will avoid whatever it is I need to get done because of that. It has caused me to recently lose a very good job I had with an amazing company.
I’ve been using 72 Sigils and Words of Power to attempt to remove this issue but have not made any noticeable progress, I’ve tried many different approaches using the 72 sigils but I am still unable to focus for very long before I procrastinate and keep procrastinating.
I know each issue is different for everyone and very personal and I am trying to uncover the true cause of this, but I was wondering if you have any advice you can give me on how to approach and finally kick this issue to the curb for good. I’m not sure if I just need to stick with just one or two sigils for awhile until it kicks in or try many different sigils to attack it from all angles. Any advice would help, thanks.
If anyone has effectively changed a similar issue I would love to hear how you did so as well. 🙂
Interestingly, the challenges of magick and procrastination are similar. The advice usually given to procrastinators is: break your problem down into bearable chunks, and then do something to get at least one thing on that list done. This is remarkably similar to the advice given to occultists: break your problem down into chunks that can be tackled with magick, and then do as much as you can with magick and in the real world, to bring about change – in stages.
The problem here is that this is a skill that needs to be developed to get the magick to work – you have to turn up, do the work. So that could leave you with a bit of a Catch 22. But all is not lost. I am familiar with this. Before I even left school I was a terrible procrastinator, and I even went to a hypnotist in an attempt to cure my ‘laziness’, as I saw it. The results were interesting, but that’s a story for another time.
So what can you do about procrastination? From everything I have experienced and witnessed I believe that procrastination is caused by uncertainty, fear (of experience and results) and overwhelm. What’s the solution? Finding out what you really want and then getting it no matter what. Probably sounds incredibly simplistic, but I think procrastination is given energy by uncertainty. If you find what you really want, it’s easy to get into the habit of obtaining what you want. So long as you can get over fear. In magickal terms, I would suggest using The 72 Sigils of Power to find out what you really want, and to discover what you can do to get it. From what you say, you’ve already been doing that. So why isn’t it working? If this is a very established habit of thought it will take time to break. If you make it a priority to work on this, you will be able to break it, but it may take quite a lot of work to get there.
As for internet addiction, how do you prioritise reach very from that, when it’s such a comfortable place? I’ve often advised people to add up the hours they spend online and compare it to what they could have done. The average internet addict, in my personal sphere, spends about 1800 hours a year in a passive, unrewarding state of near-trance. That’s 75 complete days of hibernation. Think what you could actually do with that time. You could learn to play an instrument, read 100 novels, travel to 30 new cities, meet 25 beautiful people, watch 100 films, have sex 300 times and more… I find this motivating. I hope it helps a little.
This is an amazing reply. Thank you for that. I read the original post and thought “I could have written this post. This is me.”
I’ve always thought my procrastination was laziness. We need to hear your hypnotist story!
Thanks Damon for such a thoughtful and well thought out suggestion 🙂 And yes it does help.
It’s strange, even the things that I do know that I truly want, just have been unable to get myself to focus on achieving them for very long. I’m unsure what is the cause of this, but you can bet fear, uncertainty and overwhelm is a big part of it. I want to have the self-discipline that my father has, that my sister has. I’m not sure if the fear and uncertainty is the main culprit, that I have some hidden belief or beliefs that is sabotaging me, or if I just never developed the right habits or the confidence as a youth to give me success as an adult. (this has been a problem of mine since I was very young).
It is a very established pattern of thought, and you have confirmed for me that I do need to persist in stages to make small breakthroughs until eventually it is gone, instead of just trying to eliminate it all with one heroic effort. Thanks!
Hi there, I have a question regarding Gordon’s books… Should you need to bind someone, then later decide to perform a ritual that reunites you as friends, will the binding still be effective or will it need to be performed again? Also on this note, once a binding is performed, can it be performed without the other person knowing, as opposed to rituals that incite guilt and remorse, where the person will be aware of their profound emotional thoughts over you? Ty
The binding will usually be released, at least to a degree, by the ritual to reunite – in that sense, there is some risk. But if a person has been bound and is then the subject of a ritual to bring peace, it is rare for them to have the energy and will to start up another conflict. If they do, the binding can be performed again without harming the friendship. I have bound many friends when they stepped over certain boundaries – and it helped us to remain friends, rather than having them stumble into stupidity.
The binding may make a person reflect, but they won’t be aware of being bound – it’s not at all like being cursed, and can be used without harming the person. You are removing their ability to cause harm, rather than tormenting them.
Hi Damon, it is me again. I do want to share that I had once gone to a “witch doctor”, “curandero”, etc for a wealth/money blessing and the strangest thing he did just as he was finishing up and reciting, he said in Spanish “you will have money but you will pay for it” and laughed this wicked laugh. I walked out and thought – I will not accept that. But, now, just in case – I mention it as one of those curses I might have had. And “why” would this person say that as opposed to wishing me the best? this is what I mean about strange responses from people which I find peculiar. I have had many blessings in my life but I have sort of retracted from the world – tired of this sort of thing and then using my will to “get up and brush off and keep on trucking” My energy can go to so much more productive and life affirming experiences.
I now have Magickal Protection and will use it. Can these workings be directed to situations of the past which have affected ones life and reputation? Lets say someone gossiped or undermined me in the past, who I no longer see or have any contact with but the “damage” has been done, can one use this to nullify the past as if going into a parallel reality to clear any harm, which would in turn be cleared from all possible life times and parallel realities, present and future?
Thank you again for helping to clarify these details.
You are so Appreciated !
thanks again

Hi. This comment was posted a while back, but only just got approved. I answered the first part just now, which you can see on by clicking Older Posts.
As for your question regarding protection, it is aimed at clearing the decks, so to speak, so if there is lingering malice it can help. But if the person in question isn’t actively malicious toward you, then protection isn;t as useful as the sort of inner work you can do with The 72 Sigils of Power. That book is very good at clearing out old feelings and problems that you no longer want to have within you. Having said that, many people find that using Magickal Protection for a short while learn out all sorts of things and is like hitting the Reset button.
Thank you so much for directing me to the original response- I did not even know the comment had posted. Really… Thank you for all the time you share with us and the answers you offer. Peace, Love and Joy to you and and all at GoM
